Jurnal Idea Hukum (JIH) is a double-blind peer-reviewed academic journal of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Jenderal Soedirman, Indonesia, dedicated to advancing scholarly discourse on legal reform in response to evolving societal and environmental challenges. Published twice a year, in March and October, the journal welcomes original research articles and conceptual analyses in Agrarian Law, Environmental Law, Natural Resources Law, and Related Interdisciplinary Legal Studies. Its distinctive focus lies in examining how legal norms, institutions, and practices shape access to land and natural resources, environmental protection, and the distribution of rights, responsibilities, and benefits within society.

JIH provides a forum for critical inquiry into the relationship between law, social justice, and ecological sustainability. The journal connects theoretical legal debates with the lived experiences of individuals and communities, encouraging contributions that examine both the design of legal frameworks and their implementation. Particular attention is given to legal responses to unequal resource access, competing land claims, environmental degradation, and the protection of communities affected by development and resource exploitation.

The journal’s scope encompasses land rights and tenure security; agrarian reform and land governance; spatial planning and land-use regulation; environmental protection and liability; climate change law; and the governance of forests, water, minerals, energy, and other natural resources. It also welcomes studies on customary and Indigenous rights, legal pluralism, public participation, access to justice, dispute resolution, and corporate and state accountability insofar as they relate to its core fields. Contributions may draw on constitutional, administrative, civil, criminal, international, human rights, and other legal perspectives, alongside relevant social science approaches.

Methodologically, JIH encourages normative, empirical, and socio-legal research, including comparative and interdisciplinary analyses. Submissions should articulate a clear research problem, demonstrate methodological rigor, and offer an original contribution to legal scholarship. The journal particularly values work that explains gaps between legal commitments and practical outcomes, critically evaluates existing regulatory arrangements, or develops well-supported proposals for legal and institutional reform. Research articles undergo double-blind peer review, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from one another.

Engaging with issues at local, national, regional, and international levels, JIH welcomes research from Indonesia and other jurisdictions that contributes to broader scholarly debates. Context-specific studies are encouraged to explain their significance beyond the immediate case. Through dialogue among scholars, legal practitioners, and policymakers, the journal seeks to advance understanding of how law can support equitable land relations, accountable natural resource governance, and environmental sustainability.
